Adobe AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) is a platform-independent runtime environment for developing RIAs for the desktop. AIR combines the advantages of the browser with the functionality of the desktop, thereby fully eradicating the distinction between web and desktop. The installation of the runtime environment and even of the application itself can be started directly in the browser. Digital software certificates from Thawte and Verisign are also supported. Applications already installed are updated in a matter of seconds and without any difficult routines.
